Peplin’s primary strategic objective is to develop PEP005 (ingenol mebutate) in two topical products to address the significant market opportunity for a rapidly acting, simple to use and cosmetically attractive non-surgical treatment for actinic (solar) keratosis (AK) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Beyond this, Peplin has a strategy of building its business with complimentary products focused in medical dermatology.
We own patents and have filed applications that relate to the use of PEP005 and related molecules and pharmaceutical compositions of those molecules from plants in the genus Euphorbiaceae in the treatment of cancers, AK, pre-cancers and other diseases, in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, as well as several other markets around the world, including in the European Union. In addition, we have filed patents which protect certain aspects of our product candidate formulations.
We plan to develop a direct sales and marketing organization to commercialize and market PEP005 Gel for AK to the dermatology community if it receives regulatory approval.
